The path here
The journey into cybersecurity wasn't linear. A background in digital marketing — managing campaigns, building web presence, understanding how organisations expose themselves online — gave Innocent a perspective most cybersecurity professionals don't have: he sees what attackers see because he spent years thinking about digital visibility from a completely different angle.
The turning point came during a compliance audit engagement inside Nigerian banks, where Innocent was part of the team verifying security controls against PCI DSS, ISO frameworks, and CBN requirements. Checking whether real financial institutions were actually protected — and finding the gaps — made the stakes visceral in a way no certification course could replicate.
That experience led to a Master's in Cybersecurity, CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, and SOCRadar CTI certification — plus hands-on work in API security testing, penetration testing, AI security assessment, and threat intelligence. Drillerbyte was registered and built as the vehicle to deliver that expertise to businesses that genuinely need it.
